tech π New batteries might save the US power grid
Sodium-ion batteries are being considered as a potential solution for the strain on the US power grid. General Motor's battery chief, Kurt Kelty, proposed this alternative technology. Kelty started his battery career in 1993 at Panasonic, selling rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Later, he worked with Tesla for 11 years, leading their battery cell development team. This work included helping create the first Gigafactory in Nevada.
