π¬ New approach targets aggressive breast cancer spread
Researchers in Australia found a molecular switch driving triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) spread. The study, from Adelaide University, highlighted low miR-342 and high E2F activity as risk factors. In pre-clinical models, restoring miR-342 reduced cancer spread to organs like the lungs and bones. Existing drug palbociclib also showed reduced metastatic growth in low miR-342 models. These findings suggest measuring miR-342 could repurpose current therapies for this deadly cancer. π¬
