π¬ New AI method tracks tricky airflow gusts fast
Researchers introduced a fast, uncertainty-aware framework for estimating aerodynamic states during severe gust encounters. This method uses an Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) within a low-dimensional latent space trained on airfoil-gust simulations. The EnKF's analysis stage constantly assimilates new surface pressure measurements to track unpredictable flow disturbances. Because the process is in a reduced-order space, state updates are computationally efficient and physically interpretable. Furthermore, the framework adapts by re-weighting sensors when sensor dropout occurs. π¬οΈ
