π NASA testing nuclear propulsion with SR-1
NASA has announced the SR-1 Freedom spacecraft for a groundbreaking mission. This mission will test nuclear-electric propulsion technology in late 2028. The spacecraft will utilize high-assay low-enriched uranium as its fuel source. The reactor system is designed to produce a 20-kilowatt electrical output. This is intended to provide steady energy for the spacecraft's 48-kilowatt power and propulsion element.
