science β¨ NASA funds 18 wild space tech concepts for 2026
NASA has selected 18 technology concepts for its 2026 Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) Phase I program. This initiative is happening globally, supporting research into technologies that could reshape future space exploration. Each project will receive up to $175,000 for a nine-month study, starting in 2026. Many concepts focus on the Moon, Venus, and studying Saturn's rings, alongside deep space missions. These high-risk ideas could eventually benefit Earth by reducing solar radiation or tracking debris. π
