science ๐ NASA finds biggest new solar system crater on Moon
NASA's LRO has spotted the largest newly formed crater ever in the solar system. This impact occurred on the Moon's eastern edge between April 11 and May 22, 2024. The crater, named McGetchin, is about 728 feet wide and 141 feet deep. Scientists estimate such massive impacts happen on the Moon about once a century or less. Future observations will track how this impact affects the Moon's surface properties.
