π₯ Mysuru hits 55% rain deficit, crops lose βΉ122 crore
Mysuru district is facing a severe rainfall deficit, resulting in an estimated crop loss of βΉ122 crore. Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara chaired a drought review meeting at the Zilla Panchayat in Mysuru on Tuesday, September 1. The district received only 140 mm of rain against the normal 310 mm, causing a 55% deficit. Eight taluks have been declared severely drought-affected, and employment generation has seen a 55% drop since July 2026. Officials were warned about negligence regarding crop insurance enrollment and relief measures moving forward. πΎ
