π Mushroom power in medicine is growing, but proof is needed
Mushrooms are gaining traction in medicine due to their bioactive compounds with anticancer and anti-inflammatory effects. Researchers are focusing on over 1.5 million identified species, with nearly 200 being edible for human consumption. Studies show extracts from mushrooms like Coriolus versicolor improved survival in gastric cancer patients after gastrectomy. Furthermore, adding Grifola frondosa extract boosted recovery and survival for advanced laryngeal cancer patients. More standardized, large-scale clinical trials are necessary to fully prove these therapeutic potentials. π
