health π¦ Mpox hits Guinea-Bissau, kids are most affected
More than half of the mpox cases in Guinea-Bissau have been among children, according to local authorities. The national outbreak was declared on July 4th, following the first confirmed case of a 27-year-old woman in the west African country. Currently, there are seven confirmed and 46 suspected cases, with 16 of the children under the age of four. Unicef warned that fragile health systems might mean the virus is spreading undetected, putting more children at risk. Increased surveillance and reinforcing frontline capacity are now seen as crucial steps for the region. π
