ποΈ Montana family locks down riverland for wildlife
A Montana family has permanently protected 57 acres along the Stillwater River through a conservation easement. Sean and Melodye Rooney, who bought the land in 2003 west of Whitefish, are now its sole owners. The property, which spans nearly a mile of river, is being monitored as part of Snapshot USA. Camera traps have documented species like bears, wolves, and mountain lions on the land. This secures habitat for trout and connects to other protected areas in the Flathead Valley. ποΈ
