science π¬ Molecules are now powering tiny electronics
Scientists at MIT developed a new method using self-assembled contacts to integrate molecules into electronics. The research team managed this at MIT by modifying existing semiconductor fabrication methods with surface interactions. They successfully produced over 1,000 devices featuring molecular layers thinner than one nanometer by May 2026. This framework combines traditional manufacturing with self-assembly for nanoscale materials. Future applications include arrays of molecular memory devices for new computing architectures. π¬
