๐ฌ MIT builds computers from living bacteria circuits
MIT scientists successfully created living 'circuit boards' using bacteria to process chemical signals instead of electricity. The research team utilized five bacterial strains, starting with Pantoea agglomerans found on plants, in a Petri dish. They demonstrated circuits capable of OR, IMPLY, and full-adder operations using up to 24 bacterial colonies. This modular design allows for new calculations just by rearranging the existing bacterial strains. Future applications could involve plants monitoring stress and triggering fungicide production. ๐ฌ
