⚖️ Kerala HC gives state one week to respond on Basheer death case

The Kerala High Court granted the State government a week to reply to a petition by C. Jaseela, widow of journalist K.M. Basheer. The petition challenges the Sessions Judge's order to change the trial court in Thiruvananthapuram. Basheer passed away after being hit by a car allegedly driven by IAS officer Sriram Venkitaraman on August 3, 2019. Ms. Jaseela is concerned the new prosecutor won't properly handle the case involving nearly 100 witnesses. The court will now review the grounds for the court transfer based on her concerns.

The Kerala High Court has ordered the CBI to finalize the investigation into Jesna Maria James' disappearance within six months. This case involves Jesna, who went missing from her residence in Kottayam on March 22, 2018. The court noted that eight years have passed since she was last seen and the probe shouldn't drag on indefinitely. The court rejected a plea by T.U. Arun, stating the CBI must conduct a lawful investigation. It also highlighted that the CBI had previously filed a closure report before the jurisdictional court. 🧐

The remains of 112 Palestinians, including dozens of children, were recovered from the rubble in Gaza City. The Israeli strike occurred on November 23, 2023, and the remains were recovered after 17 days of digging. 🏛️ North Karnataka districts face cabinet exclusion

While Ajay Singh joined the State Cabinet from Kalaburagi, five North Karnataka districts remain unrepresented. These districts are Gadag, Vijayanagara, Uttara Kannada, Yadgir, and Raichur. 🌾 95% of Belagavi farmland is growing crops

Over 7.16 lakh hectares, which is 95% of the total farmland, is currently under cultivation in Belagavi district. Zilla Panchayat CEO Rahul Shindhe chaired the district-level monitoring committee meeting on Tuesday. For the current monsoon season, 37,267 quintals of sowing seeds have been distributed out of a demand of 37,543 quintals. Shindhe directed officials to implement schemes like ATMA and Karnataka Raitha Samriddhi Yojana properly. The district received 341 mm of rain, which is a 4% deficit from the normal 354 mm. 🌾

🚑 Bus overturns, 13 injured on NH-16

Thirteen passengers were injured when a private bus overturned near Telaprolu village in Krishna district early Tuesday morning. The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on NH-16 as the overspeeding bus from Chennai to Visakhapatnam hit the divider. Out of 25 total passengers, 13 sustained injuries and were treated at Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation. A case has been registered against the bus driver, and police noted NHAI's delayed response hindered the road clearing until 7:30 a.m. The authorities confirmed they would bring the response delay to higher officials. 😔
