⚖️ Meta settles massive lawsuit over teen safety
Meta reached a landmark settlement worth up to $17.1 billion with 29 U.S. States, including California and Colorado. This deal concluded a lawsuit alleging the tech giant hid harms from its platforms and kept teens addicted. The 233-page suit, filed in 2023, claimed Meta collected data from children under 13 without consent. Furthermore, it alleged Meta designed addictive features while prioritizing profits over child safety. The settlement also mandates changes to Instagram and Facebook's safety features going forward.
