🥉 Medal winner back to McDonald's job
Scottish judo athlete Summer Shaw secured a bronze medal for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. She competed against seven nations in the women's 48 kg judo event on July 31, placing behind India’s Asmita Dey and Canada’s Heidi Quach. Despite the victory, Shaw returned to her part-time role as a crew trainer at McDonald's in Surrey days later. She explained that her existing funding only covers basic living costs, necessitating extra work for travel expenses. Shaw is now using a GoFundMe to help fund her goal of reaching the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
