The Maharashtra government has started an inspection drive to check commercial vehicle drivers' Marathi knowledge. This drive is targeting autorickshaw and taxi drivers across the state, including the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. As of now, 5,211 drivers have been evaluated since the drive began on August 20. Seventy-seven thousand seven hundred drivers statewide were found lacking Marathi knowledge and received notices. Those who fail to learn within one month face potential authorization suspension.
