π Marathi knowledge now mandatory for auto and taxi drivers
New rules mandate that auto and taxi drivers must possess a working knowledge of Marathi starting from August 18. This requirement applies to all drivers in Maharashtra, as enforced by RTO flying squads across the state. Non-compliant drivers will initially receive a show-cause notice and one month to learn the language. If they fail to comply, their license will be suspended for three months, potentially leading to revocation. Meanwhile, over a lakh certificates for completed courses will be distributed on Monday. π
