The Mandakini River in Uttar Pradesh crossed its highest level in 23 years following incessant rainfall on Saturday. The river reached 134.02 cm in Chitrakoot, surpassing the danger mark of 126 cm. Floodwaters inundated Ramghat, submerging shops and temples, while a bridge on the Ramghat-Hanumandhara route was washed away. The state government has shifted over 1,000 people to shelters across 26 affected districts. Authorities continue rescue and relief operations as the river remains swollen. π
