health π¦ Malaria strikes Frankfurt Airport workers
Two airport workers passed away from malaria after being infected by mosquitoes. This happened at Frankfurt Airport, Germany, involving the airport operator Fraport and city health authorities. A total of six workers contracted the dangerous malaria tropica, with the first death in early July and the second in August. The infection is assumed to have been transmitted by an Anopheles mosquito imported via aircraft. The remaining four infected workers are currently recovering well after receiving treatment.
