health π¬ Long COVID research finds immune issues in gut
Researchers discovered immune abnormalities within the intestines of individuals suffering from Long COVID. The small study compared colon tissue and blood from 44 Long COVID patients against 13 recovered controls. They noted that 27% of Long COVID participants retained the SARS-CoV-2 virus, more often in tissues than blood. The team suggested studying antivirals and combination treatments for Long COVID. This research points toward future targeted treatments for the condition. π¬
