business π LIC eyeing more NSE stake and village reach
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) might increase its 10.72 per cent stake in the NSE after the IPO launch. The insurer has declined selling shares in the proposed OFS, showing long-term confidence in the exchange. Operationally, LIC aims to establish representation in every village panchayat across India. This rural push is supported by 2.8 lakh active women agents through the Bima Sakhi initiative. LIC plans to achieve substantial progress toward full panchayat coverage within the next one to two years.
