science ⚛️ LHC rules out some quantum black holes 🔬
Physicists at UC Santa Barbara have extended the search for microscopic black holes using the Large Hadron Collider. The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the LHC established a new methodology applicable to identifying novel particles. The search, detailed in Progress in High Energy Physics, ruled out quantum black holes with specific characteristics. This work helps address the discrepancy between the universe's energy scale and the Planck scale. Future investigations will refine search parameters, guiding theoretical development at CERN.
