world π Lake above mudslide port nearly empty
The barrier lake above the mudslide-hit Gyirong Port in Xizang Autonomous Region has basically drained, according to the Ministry of Water Resources. This lake was formed by a fast-moving chain mudslide that impacted Gyirong Port on the China-Nepal border. As of Sunday, the impact crater upstream still needs monitoring, showing a surface area of about 108,000 square meters at 11:23 a.m. The ministry noted that the crater and three downstream water areas still present risk hazards requiring continued surveillance. A new barrier lake formed on Saturday, which has since breached, turning the channel into a flowing state. π
