π Kids eating recreational drugs is on the rise
A new study reveals that the rate of young children unintentionally ingesting recreational drugs has been increasing over the last 25 years. Researchers from Nationwide Childrenβs Hospital and the Central Ohio Poison Center analyzed calls to U.S. poison centers from 2000 to 2004. The ingestion rate for children under six jumped over 3,300%, with 41,612 such incidents found across 24 years. Cannabinoids made up 85% of these ingestions, with edible marijuana being a major factor. Prevention strategies, including better storage and packaging, are being recommended moving forward. π
