Daily electricity consumption in Kerala reached 99 million units for two straight days, marking one of the highest records for September. This spike was recorded on September 17th at 99.92 mu and September 18th at 99.43 mu. Peak demand reached 5,305 MW on Thursday and 5,348 MW on Friday, with 80% of the Friday demand met via external imports. Internal hydropower generation was hampered by the weak southwest monsoon, causing storage levels to drop to 61.35%. KSEB warned that power curbs were likely to happen on Saturday evening due to anticipated higher deficits.
