π§οΈ Kerala faces drought risk as monsoon slows down
Kerala is facing a rainfall deficit as the southwest monsoon season nears its end. The India Meteorological Department noted a 22% deficit from June 1 to August 31 across the state. With September forecast to be below normal, the deficit is expected to widen further. Strengthening El NiΓ±o and weak IOD are also noted as factors suppressing monsoon activity. This situation raises concerns for water and power availability, especially in Wayanad and Idukki. π
