π³ Kentucky golf course turns into massive public park
A former 225-acre golf course is being transformed into a major public park, featuring hiking and biking trails. This site is located in Independence, Kentucky, and the park is expected to break ground in 2026. The former Fox Run Golf Course averaged only 9,000 to 10,000 rounds yearly, leading to its closure. Officials decided to preserve the land due to deed restrictions from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The new park will preserve about 70% of the area with areas for families, adventure, and nature.
