๐ Kashmir's bat industry facing raw material crunch
Kashmir's bat-making industry, which provides livelihood to at least 50,000 locals, is currently facing struggles. This industry is centred in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir, where 195 registered manufacturers operate. Despite a decade of growth, leading to 30 lakh bats yearly, it now contends with raw material shortages and climate change. The local craftsmanship is globally recognized, as seen when the ICC certified a Kashmiri company in 2021. Efforts are now focused on adapting bats for women's cricket to maintain global market relevance. ๐
