π JWST finds impossible black hole in early universe
The James Webb Space Telescope discovered objects called little red dots in the early Universe, which seem to host unexpected black holes. These objects were found by researchers studying data from within the first two billion years post-Big Bang. Specifically, the Virgil Galaxy showed evidence of a massive black hole that challenges current cosmological models. One theory suggests these 'overmassive' black holes might be obscured by dense gas cocoons. Scientists plan to get deeper mid-infrared data to better understand these cosmic mysteries. π
