🛑 JNU cancels Umar Khalid book talk citing 'non-disclosure'
Jawaharlal Nehru University cancelled a student-organized discussion centered on Umar Khalid’s book, Fractured Communities. The event, scheduled for Monday at the School of Social Sciences (SSS)-I auditorium, was slated to mark the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. The cancellation, announced Sunday, was based on the university citing 'non-disclosure of the full facts' about the programme. Khalid, who has been in custody since September 2020, wrote the book based on his 2018 PhD thesis. The JNU Students’ Union stated they would proceed with the discussion outside the venue. 📚
