business 🛡️ India's indigenous AK-203 rifle gets a major test
The prototype of the AK-203 Sher assault rifle has been test-fired using 100% indigenous components at IRRPL’s Amethi facility. Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited conducted the firing trials, which included burst firing, finding the initial outcomes encouraging. The company is now making more rifles for the Indian Armed Forces trials starting in September 2026. IRRPL also has a Rs 5,200-crore contract to supply 6,01,427 rifles by December 2030. Production efficiency is being boosted with a target of one rifle every 100 seconds.
