📚 India's higher education sees massive 10-year growth
India's higher education system expanded structurally between 2014–15 and 2023–24, becoming the world's second-largest network. The sector saw universities grow by 69.6% and total enrolment increase by 31.5% across the decade. Female enrolment rose 42.2%, and the overall GER jumped from 23.7% to 30.0% by 2023–24. Despite growth, employability and faculty shortages remain major concerns for the system. The future focus includes aligning curriculum with Industry 4.0 and boosting PwBD infrastructure.
