π India's dreams are leveling up after independence
India's economic focus has shifted from basic survival to diverse choices since gaining freedom on August 15, 1947. Economists noted that in 1947, around 60% of Indians lived below the poverty line, facing severe scarcity. The Household Consumption Expenditure Survey 2023-24 showed rural spending rose 9.3% and urban spending rose 8.3%. This trend shows the gap between rural and urban spending is narrowing significantly. Aspirations are now shaped by perceived possibility and lifestyle, not just basic necessities. π
