⚠️ IMA warns against antibiotic misuse during H1N1 rise
The Indian Medical Association has issued a warning against self-medicating with antibiotics due to a rise in H1N1 cases. This advisory was released by the IMA in New Delhi, targeting the misuse of drugs like azithromycin and cefixime. As of the advisory, Delhi has seen over 1,770 confirmed H1N1 cases, with reports also coming from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and West Bengal. The association clarified that H1N1 is a viral illness and antibiotics are ineffective against viruses. They stressed that most infections are mild, so there is no need for panic.
