Protests are ongoing at IIT Delhi following the death of 31-year-old MSc Physics student, Rishikesh Kumar. Over 500 students are demanding an independent inquiry and better welfare safeguards from the institute. The university detailed its existing systems, including 24/7 mental health access and reduced academic loads. A new external inquiry panel, chaired by Justice Mukta Gupta, has been reconstituted to look into the matter. The police have separately registered an FIR regarding the alleged suicide, while IIT Delhi vows to strengthen support mechanisms.
