π§ Idukki reservoir dips below 51% amid El NiΓ±o fears
The Idukki reservoir's water storage crossed 51% of its total capacity on Monday, August 10, 2026. Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) officials reported the level was at 2,355.60 ft, compared to 70% last year. Ten days of heavy rainfall significantly helped boost the reservoir's storage level recently. KSEB anticipates that continued rain will help reach 75% storage for the upcoming summer power demand. However, the district is still facing a 44% rainfall deficit as of this date.
