health π¦ ICMR team steps in for Chandipura virus in Gujarat
A national team from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has been sent to Gujarat to investigate the Chandipura virus outbreak. This team is collaborating with state authorities to understand and control the disease spread. Previous major outbreaks were reported around two years ago, with ICMR studying it in Gujarat for the past two years. The World Health Organization notes the virus can cause acute encephalitis syndrome, especially in children. Authorities are also boosting surveillance using the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme to manage the situation.
