The Indian Air Force (IAF) has managed to localize 97% of its frequently used fighter spares, covering items like batteries, tires, and parachutes. This massive drive was conducted by the IAF across its maintenance command, significantly cutting foreign dependency. Over the last five years, this indigenization effort has saved βΉ582 Crore in foreign exchange reserves. The force has also inducted indigenous systems like the Akash missile and SAMAR to support its operational needs. Moving forward, the IAF is actively partnering with private industry for mass production of these components. π
