π₯ Hospitals marking up medical supplies by thousands%
Hospitals are allegedly charging patients significantly inflated prices for common medical consumables. This issue was flagged by Tukaram Mundhe of the Maharashtra FDA on Tuesday, highlighting the lack of regulation on most medical devices. Reports indicate mark-ups on certain consumables can reach as high as 2,841%. This happens because most medical devices are not capped under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. The government is urged to create guidelines to control the gap between procurement costs and the final MRP. π₯
