health ๐ก๏ธ Heatwaves link to kids' mental health issues
Intensifying heatwaves are now raising significant concerns regarding the mental health of children worldwide. A study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology found a link between higher temperatures and deteriorating mental health outcomes in youth. Specifically, a 1 degree Celsius temperature rise correlates with nearly a 1% increase in adverse mental health outcomes. Children aged 5 to 18 showed a 25% rise in poorer mental health during heatwaves, affecting sleep and academics. Future climate adaptation plans are suggested to protect children's overall wellbeing.
