health 🔬 Health Ministry sends team to investigate virus outbreak
The Union Health Ministry deployed a National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT) to Gujarat and Rajasthan after the Chandipura virus (CHPV) outbreak. This multidisciplinary team includes specialists from NCDC, ICMR, NIV, and NCVBDC. The investigation started following the Centre’s “One Health” approach. CHPV, spread by sandflies, causes acute encephalitis syndrome, mainly affecting children. NJORT findings will guide future surveillance strategies against this and other diseases.
