business π Half-price rail tickets for 18-year-olds extended
The Department for Transport has announced an extension allowing 18-year-olds to buy half-price train tickets for most services. This change applies to the 16-17 Saver railcard, which will now be valid for a full year from purchase starting August 17th. Previously, over 70,000 students annually were disadvantaged by the expiring railcard rules. The Β£35 railcard offers 50% off most fares, helping teenagers with education and jobs. This measure is funded by the expected increase in overall train ridership. π
