โจ Google lets users toggle off visible AI watermarks
Google enabled a setting on August 14 allowing Gemini and Flow users to turn off visible AI watermarks on generated media. This change affects output from Nano Banana, Gemini Omni, and Lyria across images, videos, and songs. Crucially, invisible SynthID watermarks and C2PA metadata remain embedded regardless of the user choice. Google also open-sourced Credentio, a C2PA library for local provenance validation, with Search support coming soon. This shift allows creators more flexibility but shifts reliance to invisible verification signals. ๐ค
