science ๐ฆ Giant squid fossil shows evidence of a brutal attack
Paleontologists found two bite marks on the skeleton of the ancient cephalopod Enchoteuthis. This creature was discovered in southern Manitoba, Canada, within the Cretaceous seas. The fossil, specimen Q80.05.14, is approximately 49 cm long and dates back around 81 million years ago. These marks provide rare proof of predator-prey interactions in the past marine environment. Scientists are still unsure of the specific attacker, which could have been a mosasaur or a large fish. ๐ฆ
