world π Food insecurity rises sharply in Pakistan
Food insecurity has increased significantly across Pakistani households over the last six years. Data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows this is happening in both urban and rural areas. The percentage of moderately to severely food insecure households jumped from 15.92% in 2019 to 24.35% in 2025. This trend is due to inflation, causing families to cut back on essential food items. The nation has become a net food importer since at least 2021.
