health π§ Focusing on pain might reduce inflammation faster
A new study found that paying attention to inflamed skin helps the body's swelling settle more quickly. This research was conducted at Bar-Ilan University's Azrieli Faculty of Medicine in Israel. In experiments involving 57 healthy adults, focused attention resulted in smaller wheals compared to distraction. The findings suggest that unpleasant sensations carry information regulating the immune response. Furthermore, increased heart rate variability, linked to the vagus nerve, was higher during focused attention.
