Researchers developed a new method to check the seismic performance of mountain-adjacent tunnels in the Loess Plateau. This study focused on polypropylene-fiber-reinforced concrete (PFRC) structures in the Loess region. Tests showed optimal concrete strength at a 0.9% fiber content, improving over ordinary concrete by 15%. PFRC linings reduced bending moments by up to 15.2% compared to traditional structures. This suggests fiber reinforcement offers better seismic performance and simpler construction.
