science π¬ Feather color secrets revealed by microspectroscopy
Scientists used microspectrophotometry to study how bird feathers get their colors. This research was done by examining two feather samples, one blue and one bronze, at CRAIC Technologies. Measurements were collected across 250β800 nm at six locations on each feather type. The blue feather showed a structural color peak, while the bronze feather suggested pigment absorption. This technique offers a non-destructive way to map individual feather structures. π¬
