🚂 Railways charged ₹168 Cr on slow trains, says CAG

The CAG report found that Indian Railways irregularly collected ₹168 crore through the 'superfast surcharge'. This was charged to passengers on over 190 trains that did not qualify as superfast services between April 2022 and March 2023. Despite instructions from the Ministry of Railways in November 2025, concerned zonal railways continued to levy the charge.
