health π¨ Fake drug sellers face murder charges, says Karnataka minister
Karnataka Health Minister UT Khader stated that making and selling fake medicines should result in severe criminal charges like attempted murder. This statement was made in Mangaluru on Tuesday, September 15, as current penalties are considered insufficient. The issue stems from a Rs 5 crore counterfeit medicine racket seized near Bidadi in Bengaluru South district. Khader is urging the Union government to change the law and has ordered the recall of suspected batches from hospitals. The state is also planning better testing labs and considering a CBI probe.
